Overview of STAR Tech

This overview (available as downloadable files) describes the key components of the STAR Tech Professional Development Program. The overview can serve the following two purposes:

  1. It can be used to introduce district and school leaders to STAR Tech.
  2. It can be used as a resource by district and school leaders when they introduce STAR Tech to staff within schools.

The text for the overview (available in PDF and Microsoft Word formats) is intended to accompany a set of slides from a PowerPoint presentation. All files are available for download at the bottom of this page. We hope this combination satisfactorily describes, in broad strokes, the key elements of STAR Tech. Leaders can use these resources in several ways to introduce STAR Tech to staff within their schools. For example, they might want to:

  • Show the PowerPoint presentation at a meeting (making revisions, as needed)

  • Revise the written explanation and turn it into a “script” that helps in discussing the slides in the PowerPoint presentation

  • Distribute a hard copy of the overview to others

  • Send the electronic version of the overview and/or the PowerPoint presentation to others

The overview is organized into the following sections:

  • Background and Context

  • Goal of STAR Tech

  • Components of the STAR Tech Professional Development Program:

    • The STAR Cycle

    • 1:1 Assistance

    • Knowledge Acquisition

    • Leadership Component of STAR Tech

  • Key Leaders

  • Five Phases of Implementation

  • Benefits for Students, Teachers, and the District
