Keeping
the Conversation Fresh
When teams meet on a regular basis (e.g., every other week) facilitators
might need to change the format on occasion to keep the conversation
fresh. We define fresh as avoiding redundancy
in the issues and strategies discussed, infusing knowledge about content
and pedagogy into the conversation, and introducing stimulating ideas
about curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology. The goal
is to keep everyone actively engaged in the professional growth experience.
Below is a list of easy-to-implement strategies that facilitators can
use to keep the conversation fresh. They fall within four categories:
change the team dynamics, shine a spotlight on curriculum, vary the
protocol, and offer a carrot.
